Canton, NY – Don Louis Rodriguez hit his first collegiate home run and drove in four runs on the day as the SUNY Canton baseball team split a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games v. Cazenovia College on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- Cazenovia got on the board first in the opener with a solo home run in the first. The Roos responded in the second when Rodriguez singled home Noah Reyes. The Wildcats tallied one more on an RBI single in the second.
- The Roos took their first lead of the day with three runs in the fourth. Dylan Allen reached on an error scoring Jesse Iacovetta and Reyes. Rodriguez used a base hit to drive in Allen to put the Roos up 4-2.
- Canton tacked on one run each in the fifth and six innings. Allen brought home Iacovetta on an RBI single in the fifth and Zach Miner scored Dyllon Bougor on a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
- Trailing 6-2 heading to the bottom of the sixth, host Cazenovia scored five runs to take a 7-6 lead. The Roos responded with another three runs in the seventh, all of which were scored with two outs. Chris McVannan reached on an error scoring Cameron Cartier. Bougor singled home Rodriguez and Ty Reed brought McVannan across on a base hit.
- Kieran Gibson was credited with the no decision giving up seven runs with five walks and three strike outs in 5.2 innings. Danny Vargas earned the win with one inning in relief walking two, striking out two, and allowing two hits. Zach Bates tossed the final one-third of an inning to pick up the save.
- JP Kaufman took the loss for Cazenovia allowing one earned run in 1.2 innings.
- Parker Wing paced Cazenovia with three hits and 4 RBI.
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- Game 2 was full of scoring as the teams combined for 32 runs. The hosts took an early 3-0 lead after one inning but the Roos exploded for seven runs in the top half of the second.
- McVannan scored Allen after getting hit by a pitch. Reed drew a free pass to score Kevin Kapfer. Bates singled home Reyes, Miner reached on a fielder's choice to plate McVannan, and Rodriguez hit a two-run homer.
- The Wildcats scored at least one run in every inning besides the seventh inning including five in the fifth and seven in the eighth.
- Canton added one run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Bates reached on a fielder's choice to score Kapfer in the fifth. In the sixth Iacovetta scored on a wild pitch and Reyes brought home Rodriguez on a sacrifice fly.
- Iacovetta, Allen and Kapfer all had two hits each for the Roos, while Rodriguez and Bates drove in two runs each.
- Jackson Troiano was credited with the no-decision surrendering seven earned runs in 3.0 innings. Anthony Tur took the loss allowing six earned runs in 1.1 innings of relief work.
- KJ Beeman picked up the win for Cazenovia tossing three innings in relief giving up one earned run with three strike outs and three walks.
- Wing, Nick Santoro and Cesar Tapia combined for eight hits and drove in 11 runs for the Wildcats.

The Roos are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday when they visit SUNY Cobleskill for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
