Hunter Olsen scored four goals each but a slow start hurt the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team as they fell 15-10 to visiting SUNY Poly in both team's season opener on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The visiting Wildcats jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the opening quarter. Both teams played even with three goals each in the second quarter as SUNY Poly took an 8-4 lead into intermission.
- The Roos trimmed the deficit to 10-8 with 49 seconds left in the third quarter on Robinson's third tally of the game, but three straight scores gave the Wildcats a 13-8 advantage three minutes into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats held on for the 15-10 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Robinson paced Canton with four goals and two assists to go with six ground balls. Olsen finished with four goals, one assist and seven ground balls. Jacob Facey and Zack LaFave supplied a goal and assist each, while Facey picked up six ground balls.
- Nick Walberger went 19-for-28 in the X and picked up 10 ground balls. Brandon Schmidt recorded a game-high 11 ground balls, while Hunter Roberts caused a game-high two turnovers.
- Edward Rosaschi led the Poly attack with four goals and three assists, Brody Guido finished with four goals and one assist and Shane Wyman posted a hat trick. Michael Kenneally finished with eight ground balls.
- Justin LaDuke registered nine saves in the loss, while Matthew Johnson turned aside 19 shots in the win.
- SUNY Canton held the edge in shots on goal (29-24), face offs (19-9) and ground balls (58-53).

The men's lacrosse team is back in action next Saturday (3/27) when they visit SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m. Â
