Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton Esports teams wrapped up a successful fall 2021 semester that saw the Roos various teams compile over 130 wins as a pair of teams made it all the way to their respective championship matches.
SUNY Canton's League of Legends 'A' team made it to the championship match in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) playoffs, while the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War 'A' team qualified for the championship match in State University of New York (SUNY) playoffs.
Additionally, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 'A' team made it to the quarterfinals in the ECAC playoffs.
League of Legends – ECAC
SUNY Canton's League of Legends 'A' team went 5-1 in the regular season including a win over the University of Louisville.

Alec Knowles (ADC) and
Thomas Nagle (Support).
The Roos earned playoff wins v. St. Lawrence (2-0) and Stockton (2-0) before falling 2-1 to eventual champion Stevenson in the double elimination format. SUNY Canton then defeated Muskingum (2-0) before a rematch with the Mustangs. Stevenson would prevail in a tight match, 3-2, for the championship.

Mark Avery said. "Overall, it was a heck of a season and even though the guys were disappointed I could not be prouder of what they did this season. Our team played their hearts out and it really could have gone either way."
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – SUNY
SUNY Canton's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War 'A' team went 4-1 during the regular season and earned three straight playoff wins v. Suffolk County Community College (3-0), Niagara County Community College (3-0) and New Paltz (3-0) to reach the championship match.

The Roos eventually fell 3-0 to Farmingdale State in the championship match.
"I was watching on Twitch the entire set, it was a nail biter of a finals and even though the score was 3-0, each match was as close as a razor's edge in terms of per-match score," Esports Coordinator Charles Murray said. "This was some of the best gameplay I have seen so far in SUNY Esports and I am so happy that SUNY Canton COD had a great showing this season."
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – ECAC
SUNY Canton's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 'A' team went 2-2 during the regular season before rattling off three straight wins over Central Maine Community College (2-0), Stockton University (2-0) and Fanshawe College (2-0) to reach the quarterfinals.

Wakim Reed.
The Roos would eventually fall 2-0 to New Jersey City University in the quarterfinals, just two wins short of a championship.
"I am so proud of what SSBU 'A' has been able to accomplish not only this season but over the years under the leadership of Donjei and Madison," Murray said. "Their team consistently wins against schools in higher divisions and punches well above their weight - giving it their all in every single match regardless of the giant opponents they faced. It has been an absolute privilege to have such a solid team made up of great students."
This concludes the esports teams fall 2021 semester season. The teams will return to competition during the spring 2022 semester.
