Canton, NY – Shanelle Borth and
Mya Hodge scored eight points each but a strong start carried SUNY Poly past the SUNY Canton women's basketball team, 70-48, on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wildcats roared out to a 20-3 lead after the opening quarter and extended their lead to 38-13 at intermission. SUNY Poly shot 48.3. % in the opening half, while the Roos struggled at 16 %.
- Canton came out with much better intensity in the second half as they outscored the Wildcats 35-32 after intermission.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Borth and Hodge totaled eight points and six rebounds each. Samantha Dayter and Seattle Lettau supplied seven points apiece with Lettau hitting on three of her five field goals.
- Molly Burdick led the visitors with a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. Kierra Connor (13), Lauren Denny (12) and Alexandra DeBeatham (11) also scored in double figures.
- The Roos were much better after intermission shooting 40 percent in the second half.
- SUNY Poly held the upper hand in rebounds (42-28), points off turnovers (26-12) and points in the paint (32-18), while the Roos reserves outscored the Wildcat bench, 20-1.

The women's basketball is back in NAC action on Saturday when they host Cazenovia at 3 p.m.
