THE BASICS
  • Result: SUNY Canton 2, Cazenovia 0
  • Location: SUNY Canton Turf – Canton, NY
  • Records: SUNY Canton (7-6-1, 4-3-1 NAC) | Cazenovia (7-6-1, 5-3-0 NAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos got on the board first in the 31st minute. Sanchez played a ball from the near corner to Jason Hernandez who played a ball into the box that was mishandled briefly by the Cazenovia keeper. Brendan Labbe was in perfect position at the far post to gobble up the loose ball and bury his first collegiate goal in the back of the net.
  • Canton struck again less than five minutes later after Cazenovia was whistled for a foul in the box. Sanchez stepped up and buried the penalty kick into the right corner of net to double the lead for the hosts.
  • That proved to be all the Roos would need as Tyler Petersen stopped both shots he faced in the second half to secure the 2-0 shutout win.
