Olsen and Facey Score Four Each, Walberger Has Strong Outing as Roos Fall to Marian

Canton, NY – Hunter Olsen and Jacob Facey provided four goals apiece but visiting Marian University jumped out to an 11-7 halftime lead on their way to a 17-11 victory in non-conference action on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marian opened a 6-4 lead after the opening quarter and led 11-7 at the half. Facey scored twice in the first quarter, while Olsen had three second quarter tallies.
  • The Sabres scored the first four goals out of intermission to take a commanding 15-7 lead. The Roos netted three of the final four goals of the game for the 17-11 final.
  • Nick Walberger had a strong outing going 19-for-30 on face offs as he picked up a game-high 11 ground balls. Tucker Ainslie finished with four ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Brandon Schmidt had five ground balls and two forced turnovers.
  • Noah Robinson provided a game-best four assists to go with a goal, while Andrew Garrett recorded a goal and assist.
  • Colt Robertson paced the Sabers with five goals and one assist, while Garrett Houlihan and Erik Horman added four and three goals, respectively.
  • Canton had the upper hand in face offs (20-11), but turned the ball over 37 times.
  • Justin LaDuke stopped 16 shots over 51:25, while Nick Beldoc made two saves over the final 8:35. Richard Summers turned aside 12 shots in the win for Marian, while Cameron Nevins made one stop in the final 10:36.
