HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos got on the board first at 8:15 of the opening period. Mayette won a face off at the right circle back to Jesse Farabee. His shot was saved by Michael Paglucca but Mayette put home the rebound off a loose puck out in front for his fifth goal of the season.
  • Potsdam evened the score at one two minutes later when Sean Winikates played a pass from the right boards to a cutting Robert Clerc out in front who finished off his eighth goal of the season. Jack Bloem also earned an assist on the play.
  • Canton regained the lead at 18:17 of the period. Austin Washkurak made a great diving play from net to get his stick on a pass to Mayette leading the Roos to a 3-on-2. Mayette delivered a pass to Noah Robinson at the left circle as he beat Paglucca short side for the 2-1 lead.
  • Potsdam tied the game once again at 9:58 of the second period on Clerc's second goal of the night.
  • The Roos took a 3-2 lead at 18:13 of the second on a Tyson Bruce power play goal. Mayette won a draw at the right circle back to Luke Hincenbergs. The senior tipped the puck forward to his classmate Bruce. Bruce's initial shot was blocked by a defenseman but he put home the second attempt for the lead.
  • The Bears were whistled for back-to-back penalties almost midway through the second period sending the Roos on a 5-on-3 for 1:37.
  • The Roos made the visitors pay just five seconds into the two-man advantage as Sean David collected the face off. He flipped a back-hander top shelf to give Canton the 4-2 lead.
  • Canton was whistled for a pair of minor penalties with 8:12 remaining as the Bears went on an extended 5-on-3 of their own. Less than a minute later the Bears converted on the skater advantage as Tyler Young scored his fifth goal of the season off passes from Ryan Lieth and Vincent Guimond.
  • The Roos were called for another penalty with 42 seconds remaining and Potsdam pulled the goalie for the 6-on-4 skater advantage. Sean Shepard put home an empty-netter the length of the ice with 20 seconds left to seal the 5-3 win.
  • Austin Washkurak made 18 saves on 20 shots over the first 29:58 and added an assist, while Michael Cerasuolo tallied 10 saves on 11 shots in relief. Michael Paglucca turned aside 24 shots in the loss.
