Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton Esports teams had a strong start to the Fall 2020 semester posting an 8-1 record across five of its titles including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Valorant, Rocket League, Overwatch and League of Legends.

ECAC Super Smash Bros. Ultimate B | SUNY Canton 2, Thomas 0 | RESULTS
SUNY Canton SSBU (B) earned a 2-0 win against Thomas College on Monday.  Adhemar Tiburcio AKA "Salutations" took match one against Thomas's using Donkey Kong.
 
PlayVS League of Legends | SUNY Canton 2, Thomas 0
Top performers for match 1 were Alec Knowles with a 14.0 Kill/Death Average (KDA) and Bennett Martino with 9 eliminations. Xaris (Harris) Zotos finished with 18 assists, and Martino finished with 515 gold per minute. In match 2 Knowles AKA "ToastyTG" popped off and had three of the four top performing achievements. Knowles had a 27 KDA, 11 eliminations, and 471 gold per minute. Zotos also had an impressive 22 assists.
 
ECAC Valorant | SUNY Canton 2, Plattsburgh State 0 | RESULTS
SUNY Canton Valorant earned a 2-0 win over Plattsburgh on Tuesday. This was an absolutely incredible match between two juggernauts of video games. The newly formed SUNY Canton Valorant team won match one, 13-10, and match two, 13-9. Each match was a nail biter decided by a few key plays. A round during match one was clinched by SUNY Canton's newest Valorant superstar Gavin Decker AKA "Gavv". Gavv landed one of the most impressive triple kill grenades securing a win when the team was on the brink of losing the round.
 
"He did a great job putting the pressure on Plattsburgh when they thought the round was all but won," Murray said.
 
ECAC Overwatch A | SUNY Canton 3 Nazareth 0 | RESULTS
SUNY Canton Overwatch (A) defeated Nazareth College, 3-0, on Wednesday. The two new SUNY Canton esports competitors "Ghosty" and "Dovokiin" had a dominant first game showing against Nazareth. Nathaniel French, AKA "Ghosty", playing his patented reaper pick sinking over multiple quadra-kills made quick work of the opponents' backline. Austin Kubo, AKA "Dovokiin" is SUNY Canton's newest tank player and will be shot-calling plays for the team. Austin is one of the highest ranks possible in Overwatch, among others on the SUNY Canton Overwatch team he also claims the title of top 200 in the United States."
 
ECAC Overwatch B | SUNY Canton 3, Arcadia 0 | RESULTS
SUNY Canton Overwatch (B) earned a 3-0 decision over Arcadia University on Wednesday. A balance between skill ratings for both teams led to close games for each match in the series, but SUNY Canton's new star support player Rabbitz shined bright in his first showing for SUNY Canton Esports. Brayan Hurtado AKA "Rabbitz" sunk an amazing triple kill on "Baptiste" using his amplification matrix to do double damage, out sniping the enemy "Widowmaker" and enemy supports securing the game winning fight for his team.


"The energy inside the esports arena when Rabbitz made that play was incredible," Charles Murray, Esports Coordinator said. "The players will definitely be watching that video to learn how to replicate that moment."
 
ECAC Rocket League | Sacramento State 3, SUNY Canton 0 - RESULTS
SUNY Canton Rocket League fell 3-0 to Sacramento State on Wednesday, the Roos lone loss of the entire week. Match results were 2-1, 4-0 and 3-1 in Games 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
 
 
ECAC Super Smash Bros. Ultimate A | SUNY Canton 2, Farmingdale State 0 | RESULTS
SUNY Canton SSBU (A) defeated Farmingdale 2-0 on Thursday evening, a match which was rescheduled from Monday. Donjei Bethea on Cloud takes match one against Farmingdale's Peach. SUNY Canton's newest player Theo Cannamela AKA "Kurlz" won the fight against Farmingdale using his favorite character Bowser! Theo is a recent transfer to SUNY Canton but has shown promise playing heavies and is all around a solid player.
 
ECAC Super Smash Bros. Ultimate C | SUNY Canton 2, Juniata 1 | RESULTS
SUNY Canton SSBU (C) defeated Juniata College 3-1 on Thursday evening, a match rescheduled from Monday. It was a very interesting matchup both rounds as players chose non-meta characters, with Iggy and Ness match one and Hero match two.
 
PlayVS League of Legends | SUNY Canton 2, Arcadia 0
Top performers for match 1 were Denny Gao and Bennett Martino. Denny had a 14.0 KDA and 8 eliminations, while Martino had 451 gold per minute. Top performers for match 2 were Knowles and Gao. Alec had a 19.0 KDA and 15 assists, while Gao totaled 11 eliminations and 441 gold per minute.
