HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos took a 1-0 lead at 15:02 of the opening period as Maggie Convery won the puck at the far boards back to Hannah Desrochers. Potsdam goalie Kayla McCabe was unable to cover the puck out in front as Breanna Bedborough collected the puck and wristed home her third goal of the season. The assist was the first collegiate point for Convery.
- The Bears responded with a pair of power play goals just over a minute apart. Shelbi Thacker dumped the puck down low to Lucy Condon as the two swapped places. Condon dumped the puck toward net and it deflected out in front where Miranda Kolb poked the puck into the back of the net at 17:46.
- Just over a minute later Natalie Wasielewski won a draw at the left dot back to Shelbi Thacker. She left a pass for Delphine Leonard just inside the blue line as she skated in and wristed a shot past Roos goaltender Brooke Susac.
- SUNY Canton dominated shots 13-6 in the second period but were unable to convert three power play chances as the Bears continued to hold a 2-1 lead after two.
- Potsdam extended the lead to 3-1 at 3:32 of the third period on an Emily DellaNeve score.
- Bedborough got one back on a beautiful individual effort at 7:58 as she beat a defenseman and flipped the puck over McCabe for her second goal of the game and third in the last three games.
- SUNY Potsdam added a key insurance goal off the stick of Stephanie Dunlap at 11:06.
- The Roos called timeout with three minutes remaining and an offensive zone faceoff pulling Susac for the extra attacker. Kaylee Merrill iced the game for the Bears on an empty-netter 28 seconds left for the 5-2 win.
- Susac finished with 20 saves in the loss, while McCabe turned aside 28 shots in the win.
- The Bears went 2-for-5 on the power play while killing off all five of their penalties.
