HOW IT HAPPENED
- SUNY Canton was whistled for a foul in their defensive box midway through the opening half. Teddy Bruschini stepped up and placed the ensuing penalty kick into the top left corner.
- Two minutes later Dawson Pellerin made a great save diving to his right to keep the score within one.
- The Bears took a 1-0 lead into intermission as they held a slim 5-4 shots advantage and a 3-0 lead in shots on goal. Connor Bruyn had three first half shots for the hosts.
- SUNY Canton knotted the game at one apiece at the 57-minute mark off a set piece. Dustin Brown took a free kick from just inside midfield that found Brett Anderson who headed the ball back to O'Neill. The rookie settled the ball, took a dribble and placed a perfect shot into the top right corner for his second goal in three outings.
- Pellerin made another strong save with 19 minutes remaining on a one-time shot off a pass to the center of the 18.
- With just more than 12 minutes to play the Roos had a golden chance to take the lead as a ball came loose to Pedro DeSouza in the box but his shot was blocked by a Bear defender to keep the game tied.
- O'Neill drew a foul just outside the box with just over a minute to play and Hamza Meer hit a beautiful free kick that went just over the cross bar as the teams played to OT.
- The Bears registered two shots in the first overtime but neither attempt was on target. SUNY Canton outshot Potsdam 2-1 over the next 10 minutes but settled for the tie.
- Pellerin continued his impressive start to the season stopping seven of the eight shots he faced, while Conor Callan let in the only shot he faced for Potsdam.
