Meer Scores Twice, Sanchez Adds Four Points as Roos Double Up Broncos 6-3

Delhi, NY – Hamza Meer scored a pair of goals and Ellis Sanchez added a goal and two assists as the SUNY Canton men's soccer team doubled up SUNY Delhi, 6-3, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos were firing on all cylinders early as the team took a 4-0 lead into intermission behind goals from Brett Anderson, Sanchez, Meer and Alex Kenmogne. Sanchez assisted both the Anderson and Kenmogne goals, while Connor Bruyn set up Sanchez's tally.
  • Shots were even 7-7 in the opening half but the Roos made their opportunities count holding a 6-3 edge in shots on goal as Tyler Petersen stopped all three shots he faced in the opening 45 minutes.
  • Shayne O'Neill made it 4-0 for the visitors early in the second half as Bruyn assisted his second goal on the day.
  • The Broncos scored three straight goals as Juan Velez struck for a pair of tallies, while Brody Rettle got SUNY Delhi within two at 5-3 in the 79th minute.
  • Meer finished his second goal of the game with just over eight minutes remaining for the 6-3 final.
  • Petersen totaled five saves in the contest, while Corey O'Toole recorded six stops for the Broncos.
