Roos Shutout Thomas to Open NAC Play with Convincing Victory

Canton, NY – Eight different players found the back of the net as Molly Denny posted eight points and MaryClare added seven as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team shut down Thomas College in a 17-0 win in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Denny led all players with eight points on four goals and four assists, while Bowes recorded a game-best five goals to go with two assists and four draw controls.
  • Jessica Pele added two goals and one assist, EllaRose Lemay scored her first two collegiate goals and Devin Kelly added a goal and assist. Allison Wakefield, Cecelia Neally and Logan Bush also scored once each with Emily Vogt and Lindsey Ingram earning an assist apiece.
  • The Roos held Thomas scoreless in the opening half taking an 11-0 advantage into intermission. Denny had three goals and two assists in the opening 30 minutes, while Jessica Pele and MaryClare Bowes had two goals and one assist each.
  • The SUNY Canton defense was stellar throughout not allowing a single shot on goal until Nicole Piskorowski made a save with 50 seconds remaining. Madison Leary did not allow a goal improving to 4-0 on the season, while Piskorowski played the entire second half.
  • Arianna Cannistraro took the loss making six save in the first half.
  • The Roos held the upper hand in shots (38-2), shots on goal (27-1), ground balls (28-14) and draw controls (19-0).

The women's lacrosse team will host Medaille College on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
