Canton, NY – Robert Holliday, Jr. posted a season-high 30 points finishing 12-for-16 from the field to lead six players in double figures as SUNY Canton earned a 107-97 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory v. NVU-Lyndon on Friday evening. The win improves the Roos to 12-12 overall and 8-5 in league play as they finish the evening in third place in the conference standings, a half-game ahead of a two-way tie for fourth place.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Holliday shot 6-for-9 from three-point range and added five rebounds. Brandon Adkisson and Danny Santana recorded 17 points apiece, while Jordan Stewart added 12 points. Adkisson tied a game-high with five assists. Joseph Werner stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists and Quran DuBois also scored in double figures for the first time in his rookie season.
• The Roos jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead early as Holliday scored Canton's first seven points of the game. The Hornets battled back to tie it at 11-11. Holiday scored 16 of the team's first 20 points hitting six of his seven shots including 4-for-5 from three-point range.
• Canton extended its lead to 50-36 with 4:48 remaining in the opening half following a Quran DuBois dunk off a steal. The Roos led 52-44 at intermission.
• The hosts shot 56 percent from the field (20-for-36) and 45 percent from long distance (9-for-20) in the first half. The Hornets also shot well hitting on 49 percent (16-for-33) and 44 percent (7-for-16) of their field goals and three-point attempts.
• Holliday, Jr. had 22 first-half points on 9-for-11 shooting from the field including four treys. DuBois tallied eight points off the bench and Fitch added seven. Damon Denteh paced Lyndon with 11 points.
• The Hornets started the second half on a 6-0 run to get within two, but Canton used a 16-6 spurt to take another double-digit advantage at 68-56.
• The Roos opened up a 15-point lead (78-63) but Lyndon responded getting within 97-93 with two minutes remaining after a Rian Hayman-Jones layup. Danny Santana hit a huge three-pointer with the shot clock expiring with 1:24 remaining to put Canton back up seven as they closed out the win.
• The 107 points scored by the Roos are the most since they scored 107 in a 107-96 win v. Houghton College on December 6, 2014.
• The 18 made three-pointers by the Roos sets a team record in the NCAA D-III era.

"I was pleased with how we fought and battled in a gritty game," Head Coach Ben Thompson said. "Thankfully we shot the ball well enough to win, but we will need to be much better defensively to have an opportunity to win tomorrow."
