HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening period as the teams tallied seven shots apiece. Becker killed off both of their penalties with the Roos skating for 47 more seconds of 5-on-4 to start the second.
  • With 12:27 left in the second period the Hawks were whistled for their second straight penalty as the Roos had an extended 5-on-3 for 1 minute, 10 seconds. Forty-three seconds into the two-skater advantage Canton converted. Jessica Pele won the faceoff back to Noelle NIemiec who carried it into the zone at the far boards. She found Kelly Leathem behind her at the blue line who finished her fourth goal of the season on a slap shot.
  • The Roos doubled their lead at 17:01 of the second period once again on the power play. Pele won the faceoff back to Niemiec atop the left circle who quickly went cross-ice to Leathem. She delivered a pass to Sarah Kosnaskie at the point who popped the water bottle on a shot top shelf over the glove of Julia Johnson.
  • Canton made it 3-0 just 24 seconds into the third period. Pele won the puck at the near boards and she fed a breakout pass up to Kosnaskie who found Niemiec out in front. She lifted a shot into the top right corner.
  • The hosts rounded out their scoring just over a minute later when Pele left the puck for Alexa Parigi behind the Becker net. Hannah Brady cycled in front of her as Johnson was completely faked out and Brady finished into the open right side of goal.
  • Becker added a late tally when Bailey Coons scored unassisted for the 4-1 final.
  • Brooke Susac made 24 saves on 25 shots in her 10th win of the season, while Johnson stopped 31 shots in defeat.
  • Canton was 2-for-9 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
