Geneseo, NY – Danny Santana scored a game-high 19 points and Quran DuBois added 18 but a late second half run lifted host SUNY Geneseo past the men's basketball team, 65-59, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Roos opened an early 10-3 lead following a beautiful behind-the-back pass from Kahdean Bennett as Andrew Fitch flushed home the dunk. The hosts trimmed the deficit to just one at 29-28 at intermission.
• Both teams struggled offensively in the open half shooting 35 percent from the field. Geneseo made 13 first-half trips to the foul line compared to just three for the Roos.
• Quran DuBois led all players with 13 points in the opening 20 minutes, while George Nehma supplied six points off the bench. Joseph Harclerode paced the Knights with seven points.
• The teams exchanged the lead back-and-forth early in the second half as the Roos held a 51-48 advantage following a pair of Juztin Chambers-Phillips free throws with 8:21 to play.
• Geneseo ran off 13 straight points over a four-minute span to take a 61-51 lead with 4:08 remaining. Canton trimmed the deficit to three (62-59) with 48 seconds left after a jumper from Joseph Werner.
• After forcing a defensive turnover on a five second call with tight defense the Roos drew up a three-pointer for Danny Santana in the left corner but his game-tying shot came up just short as the Knights held on for the victory.
• Santana led the Roos with a game-high 19 points to go with five rebounds hitting 4-for-9 on threes. DuBois tallied 18 points and Joseph Werner added six points and 10 rebounds.
• Michael Gannon led four Geneseo players in double figures with 18 points and 11 rebounds hitting four of his eight three-point attempts. Alex Merhige (14), Harclerode (11) and Sean Crowley (10) also recorded double figures.
