Canton, NY – Ashley Gillies scored her first goal of the season but visiting SUNY Cortland used a pair of unanswered goals to earn a 3-1 victory v. the SUNY Canton women's hockey team in Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) action on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kirsten MacDowell opened the scoring just 55 seconds into the game for the Red Dragons converting off passes from Elena Eichmann and Emily King. The Roos outshot Cortland 7-3 in the opening period.
- Gillies drew the game even at 6:08 of the middle period. Debbie Bartosova collected the puck to the right of net and found a cutting Gillies out in front who buried a shot into the open left side of goal. Natasha Simioni also earned a helper on the play.
- Katie DeVoe put home the eventual game-winner with 29 seconds left in the second frame as Cortland led 2-1 after two.
- Devoe scored her second tally of the game with 1 minute, 23 seconds remaining. Shortly after the goal the Roos went on the power play and also pulled the goalie for the 6-on-4 skater advantage. Canton got one shot on net but was unable to trim the deficit.
- Brooke Susac made 22 saves in goal for Canton, while Chelsea Allain turned aside 14 shots for the visitors.

Jayde Dukette, who is also an Army ROTC Cadet, took her oath of enlistment. Cadet Dukette is also a member of the New York National Guard participating in the Simultaneous Membership program. By taking this oath she is making the commitment to participate in Army ROTC classes and training along with her regular classes at SUNY Canton and serve her country as an Army Officer when she graduates.
