Bedborough’s Two Points Leads Women’s Hockey to 2-2 Tie at Morrisville

Morrisville, NY – Breanna Bedborough tallied a goal and assist to lead the SUNY Canton women's hockey team to a 2-2 overtime tie at Morrisville State in Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Morrisville drew first blood at 14:44 of the opening period when Rhys Brown put home a shot off a pass from Sierra Voeller. Roos goaltender made 11 first period saves to keep the score within one after the opening 20 minutes.
  • Canton evened the scoring at 8:35 of the middle period when Bedborough scored unassisted.
  • The Mustangs regained the one-goal advantage at 16:36 of the same frame when Chyne Kennedy lit the lamp on the power play.
  • Trailing by one the Roos pulled the goalie with 1 minute, 34 seconds remaining and that paid off when Sarah Kosnaskie netted the equalizer with 57 seconds to play. Bedborough and Meaghan Best picked up helpers on the game-tying goal.
  • SUNY Canton outshot host Morrisville 5-1 in overtime but Mustang net minder Adriana Harman made five saves to preserve the tie.
  • Roos rookie goaltender Sirena Alvarez stopped 31 shots in her first career start to earn the tie.
