Bruce Scores in Return to Oswego, Men’s Hockey Finishes Pathfinder Classic Runners-Up

Oswego, NY – Former Laker Tyson Bruce scored in his return to Oswego but the No. 6/7 nationally-ranked Lakers earned a 6-2 win v. the SUNY Canton men's hockey team in the championship game of the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego Hockey Classic on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Oswego State wasted no time as Anthony Passero lit the lamp just 28 seconds into the contest. Tanner Spink added a pair of power play goals at 6:51 and 19:20 as the Lakers skated to first intermission up 3-0.
  • The Roos got one back at 11:54 of the middle period, also with the skater advantage. Reily McIntosh deflected a Kyler Matthews shot out in front past Laker goaltender David Richer. Joe Deveny also earned a helper on the play to get Canton within two after 40 minutes.
  • Mitch Emerson regained the three-goal lead for the Lakers at 5:42 of the third on Oswego State's third power play tally of the game.
  • Former Laker Tyson Bruce got Canton back within two when he finished glove side on the power play. Tyler Bullard and Deveny earned assists on Bruce's first score as a Roo.
  • Travis Broughman sealed the win with 3:06 remaining for the Lakers as he skated in on a delayed penalty deking Michael Cerasuolo and finishing near post. Josh Nenadal added an empty-netter with 14 seconds remaining for the 6-2 final.
  • Cerasuolo made 36 saves in the loss, while Richer turned aside 18 shots in the win.
