HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos opened the scoring at 8:42 of the first period when Breanna Bedborough left the puck for Emily Dolphin above the right circle. She hit Brittany Miner with a pass below the right circle as she beat Nor'easter goalie Julia Benjamin for just her second career goal.
  • Canton doubled the lead at 16:26 of the first when Sarah Kosnaskie and Ashley Gillies executed a beautiful give-and-go. Kosnaskie skated in towards the left circle and hit Gillies low with a pass who delivered it back as Kosnaskie beat Benjamin short-side over the stick for the 2-0 lead. The Roos held a 9-4 shots advantage and 2-0 lead on the scoreboard after one.
  • UNE got one back just 37 seconds into the second period on Tatum Gietl's eighth goal of the season.
  • The visitors responded midway through the period just before the power play ended. Micayla Macintyre skated around behind the net and to the point hitting Gillies with a pass low below the left circle. She roofed a backhand top shelf for her sixth of the season.
  • Bedborough concluded the Canton scoring at 16:52 of the third. Whitney Bernier's shot from the point was saved but the rebound went to Bedborough on the doorstep who finished inside the right post past the glove of Benjamin.
  • The Nor'easter pulled the goalie with 2:01 remaining and added a goal with the extra attacker with 48 seconds remaining after Susac stopped five shots. They pulled Benjamin once again with 37 seconds left but Susac made another stop.
