Bears Use Late Rally to Get Past Men’s Soccer, 2-1

Potsdam, NY – SUNY Potsdam scored back-to-back goals over a 10-minute span late in the second half to earn a 2-1win v. the SUNY Canton men's soccer team in non-conference action Wednesday evening.

SUNY Canton (1-2-0) got on the board in the 36th minute when Dustin Brown touched the ball on to Pedro DeSouza. He played a beautiful through ball to Josh Geller who just stayed onside. Geller evaded Potsdam keeper Jakeb Mitchell and played a left-footed shot that was headed just toward the goal line before a Potsdam defender failed a clear attempt kicking the ball into the side netting.

The Bears (1-1-1) found the equalizer in the 70th minute when a Roo defender fell down. Alejandro Callejas scored off a nice cross from the left side from Jhonny Mendoza. Potsdam took its first lead of the game 10 minutes later when Matt Saddlemire finished into the top right corner off a loose ball from a corner kick.

Mouhammed Thiam made five saves in net for the Roos, while Mitchell turned aside four shots for the Bears.
