Canton, NY – Brett Anderson scored his first collegiate goal but a late push from visiting Bard College helped the Raptors earn a 2-1 win in overtime on Sunday afternoon.
The Roos (1-1) had a quality opportunity early as Anderson flicked a pass forward to
Kyle Smith and he hit a great strike but Bard keeper Logan Leppo made a terrific save to keep Canton off the board. Canton had another opportunity seven minutes later when
Dustin Brown sent service from left to right to a running
Ellis Sanchez but his shot went high.
SUNY Canton had two more tremendous opportunities off a Smith corner as
Pedro DeSouza fired a shot that was turned aside by Leppo and DeSouza had another tremendous shot off the rebound but Leppo made an even more impressive save to keep the game scoreless with just more than 15 to play in the opening half.
The Roos dominated play in the opening half holding the upper hand in shots (10-2), shots on goal (6-2) and corners (6-0) but six first half saves from Leppo kept the game at a scoreless tie.

All the offensive chances in the opening half paid dividends for Canton early in the second half as the Roos capitalized in the 52nd minute.
Kingsley Owusu fed
Austin Brault near the midfield line and Brault delivered service on a high ball into the box where
Brett Anderson headed home his first collegiate goal for the 1-0 lead.
With time winding down in the contest and following a SUNY Canton foul Bard keeper Logan Leppo came up and struck a long shot that made its way through traffic into the back of the net with 6.8 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Isaac Yelchin scored the game-winner 4 minutes, 18 seconds into overtime off a pass from Hunter Davenport to secure the win for the Raptors (2-0).
Mouhammed Thiam made three saves for the Roos, while Leppo made nine stops for the Raptors.
The game included a controversial ending after the clock was stopped with 13 seconds remaining in regulation giving Bard the opportunity to score the game winning goal. Officials had not signaled for a stoppage.
