Thiam Stops Four Shots as Clarkson Nets Late Winner to Edge Past Roos, 1-0

Canton, NY – Mouhammed Thiam made four saves but James Homan scored with 69 seconds remaining to lift the Clarkson University men's soccer team to a 1-0 win v. SUNY Canton in non-conference action on Wednesday.

Neither team found the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes as Clarkson (6-1-0) held an 8-3 shots advantage but neither team challenged the opposing goalkeeper.

Fifteen minutes into the second half Edward Malinoski, Jr. nearly caught Clarkson's keeper Riley McDonald off guard firing a shot from long distance that went just over the cross bar as the McDonald retreated.

Five minutes later Mouhmamed Thiam came up with a big diving save to his right on a shot from Drew Lewis just inside the left post.
With time winding down in the contest Clarkson Homan converted after a scramble in front of net following a Nate Liscum throw-in from the far sideline.

Thiam made four saves in net for the Roos (2-4-2), while McDonald did not face a shot on goal as he improved to 3-0 on the season.

The men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday when it hosts Maine Maritime Academy at 2:30 p.m. Stay up to date with the latest news directly from the SUNY Canton Athletics department by "liking" us on Facebook and "following" our Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
