Roos Celebrate Hop to Help Day

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton athletics department turned out in full force to celebrate the 2018 Hop to Help Day on Friday, April 27th.

Each year, SUNY Canton student-athletes, coaches and staff members head out into the Canton community and help a variety of people with spring cleaning jobs such as raking, weeding, stacking wood, and cleaning windows.  Jobs are arranged beforehand and teams are assigned one or more jobs throughout the day.
Hop to Help Day is SUNY Canton's version of the national Make A Difference Day. The Roos have been conducting this annual event for years but changed the name to Hop to Help Day in 2007.

The men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's hockey and softball and volleyball teams all took part in various community service efforts to help those in need around the village of Canton. The places ranged from the households of the elderly to helping to put down turf for indoor lacrosse and soccer at the Canton Pavillion.
