Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 12-2 win v. Alfred State College on Senior Day.
The Roos (11-5) led 5-0 after the first quarter and took a 7-1 lead into intermission.
Trenton Yule posted two goals and two assists in the opening half and
Dante Coco added two goals and one assist. With his two first half goals Yule reached the 100 career goal scoring milestone.
SUNY Canton, who closes out its regular season with an NCAA Division III era school record 11 wins, outscored the Pioneers (5-8) by four after intermission to earn the victory.
Yule led all players with six points on three goals and three assists, while
Josh Yelvington posted a game-high four assists to go with one goal.
Dante Coco tallied a hat trick and one assists, while both
Jake Sutton and Brad Sandroni each scored twice with Sutton dishing out an assist.
Trevor Hughes and Brandon Schmidt picked up a team-high six ground balls each, while Hughes went 14-for-19 on face offs and Schmidt caused a pair of turnovers.
Kyle Smith added a goal and assist to go with two caused turnovers.
Kody Kocsis made 11 saves over three quarters for his 11th win of the season, while Justin LaDuke stopped all five shots he faced in the fourth quarter. Matt Cobb turned aside 11 shots in the loss for Alfred State.
