Kocsis Named MVP as Roos Win Bulldog Classic

Franklin, MA – Kody Kocsis made 12 saves and was named Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Kyle Smith finished with 10 points to lead the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team to a 17-6 win v. SUNY Delhi in the Bulldog Classic Championship game on Sunday.
 
SUNY Delhi led 2-1 after the opening quarter but the Roos bounced back to take a 4-3 lead into intermission. SUNY Canton (10-4) dominated after halftime outscoring the Broncos (3-10) by 10 after the half.
 
Kocsis, who made 24 saves in two games and allowed just 16 goals was named the Most Valuable Player of the classic. Smith led the Roos with three goals and seven assists in Sunday's win, while Trenton Yule (2-2-4) and Dante Coco (3-1-4) posted four points apiece.
 
Luke DeGaetano and Brad Sandroni both finished with hat tricks and Jake Sutton added two goals and one assist. Trevor Hughes picked up a game-high nine ground balls to go with 18 face off wins. With the five assists Smith eclipses the 100 career assist mark as just a junior. 
 
Malik Talbert led the Broncos with three goals, while Eric Morse made 17 saves in goal.
 
The Roos held the upper hand in shots on goal (34-18), ground balls (31-10) and face offs (18-7).
