Alfred State Sinks Buzzer Beater as Roos Celebrate Senior Day

Canton, NY – Marcus Rhett hit a jumper from just inside the three-point line as time expired to lift visiting Alfred State College to a 63-61 win over the SUNY Canton men's basketball team in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday in the Roos House.
 
Adrian Williams led the Roos with a game-high 19 points and added nine rebounds, while Ibu Smith added 13 points. Danny Santana chipped in 12 points and six rebounds and Deon Foster totaled 10 points in his first career start on Senior Day. Andrew Fitch hauled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
 
Dante Jordan paced the Pioneers with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Alexshay Pearce (14) and Tahaij Lewis (10) also scored in double figures.
 
Alfred State took a slim 32-31 lead into intermission. The Roos led by five points (57-52) after Foster hit a three-pointer with 4:07 remaining. The Pioneers finished the game on a 11-4 run to earn the victory.
 
SUNY Canton honored Deon Foster and Adrian Williams, its two seniors, in a pre-game ceremony.
 
This concludes the regular season for the men's basketball team. They will wait to see if they get a bid to the 2018 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Tournament.
