Petric & Deveny Score as Roos Comeback Bid Comes up Short in OT

CHS BOX SCORE

Canton, NY – Adam Petric and Joe Deveny scored to help the Roos overcome a 2-0 deficit but Bryce Ferrell scored 97 seconds into overtime to lift visiting SUNY Potsdam to a 3-2 win v. the men's hockey team on Friday evening.

Neither team found the back of the net in the opening period as the Roos held a slim 8-7 shots advantage after one. The Roos (1-2) had a great chance early in the second but Anthony Filoso's shot missed just wide of the right post.

The Bears (3-1) got on the board first at 3:03 of the middle period when Jake Juron put home a Nate Zweig rebound. Potsdam doubled its lead four minutes later on Dom Horvath's second goal of the season.

Canton got within one at the 9:11 mark when Luke Hincenbergs dumped the puck in off the boards behind the net and the puck went right to Adam Petric at the far post who lit the lamp for the second time this season. Zach Ahola was also credited with an assist on the play.

Joe Deveny netted his third goal of the season at 7:04 of the third off passes from Christopher Mammas and Roger Powers. The Bears got the game-winner on their second shot of the extra period to earn the victory.

Austin Washkurak made 24 saves for SUNY Canton, while Nate Skidmore turned aside 29 shots for the Bears.

The men's hockey team travels to SUNY Cortland for its first road contest of the season on Saturday at 7 p.m. Stay up to date with the latest news directly from the SUNY Canton Athletics department by "liking" us on Facebook and "following" our Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
