Gardner’s First Career Goal Carries Roos Past Maine Farmington in OT

Farmington, ME – Justin Gardner scored his first collegiate goal in thrilling fashion netting the game-winner 4 minutes and 50 seconds into overtime to lift the SUNY Canton men's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Maine Farmington in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday.

Gardner put home a free header off an Evran Akman corner kick to improve the Roos to 6-5-2 overall and 3-1-0 in NAC play. The Beavers fall to 3-8-0 overall and 0-4-0 in conference competition.

Edward Malinoski, Jr. got the scoring started less than two minutes in when he beat the opposing keeper on his team-leading eighth tally of the season. Kyle Smith set up the play with his second assist of the season.

Maine Farmington found the equalizer in the 18th minute off the foot of Andrew Longhurst as he converted a penalty kick.
Mouhammed Thiam made four saves in net for the Roos, while Matthew Wilson turned aside five shots for the Beavers.
