Thiam Makes Five Saves but Strong First Half Earns Saints Win v. Men’s Soccer

Canton, NY – Mouhammed Thiam made fives saves but host St. Lawrence scored three times in the opening half to earn a 3-0 victory v. the SUNY Canton men's soccer team in non-conference action on Tuesday.

The Saints (7-2-2) opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Brendan McNamee put home a rebound off a penalty kick. Mouhammed Thiam made the initial stop for the Roos.

St. Lawrence doubled its lead in the 15th minute when Aidan Callahan picked out Charlton Kelly on a cross in the center of the box as he put a shot into the lower right corner for the 2-0 advantage. Ryan Crouse added a Saints goal with 43 seconds left as the hosts took a 3-0 lead into intermission.

The Roos (6-2-2) outshot St. Lawrence 4-2 in shots on goal after intermission but were unable to solve Saints keeper Ben Kelty who made five total saves on the afternoon. Thiam turned aside five shots for SUNY Canton.
