Smith Scores, Thiam Makes Nine Saves but Thomas Prevails in Double OT, 2-1

Waterville, ME – Kyle Smith scored his seventh goal of the season to give the Roos an early lead but host Thomas College tied the game late and earned a 2-1 win in double overtime against the SUNY Canton men's soccer team on Saturday.

The Roos now sit at 7-8-2 overall and 4-2-0 in North Atlantic Conference play, while the Terriers improve to 12-3-1 and remain unbeaten in NAC play at 5-0-1.

Smith converted in the 27th minute to give Canton the early lead. Mouhammed Thiam made three first-half saves to give the Roos the 1-0 lead at intermission.

Michael Sanzari drew the hosts even in the 86th minute before Zenawi Bowen scored the game-winner 4 minutes and 53 seconds into the second overtime.

Thiam had an impressive game in net making a season-high nine saves including two in the first overtime. Jonathan Dutka turned aside seven shots for the Terriers.
