Gillies Scores Twice, Bloom Posts First Collegiate Point in 5-1 Victory

Canton, NY – Ashley Gillies scored twice as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team earned a 5-1 win v. Salem State University in non-conference action on Friday night in the Roos House.

Micayla Macintyre opened the scoring for the Roos (7-7-1) with her first collegiate goal off a pass from Alyssa Hein midway through the opening period. Gillies tallied her first of the night and second of the season on the power play, just 51 seconds into the second period off a pass from Whitney Bernier.

The Vikings (1-11-2) got one back two minutes later on Catherine Salvetti's first goal of the season with the skater advantage. Hannah Brady regained the two-goal advantage for the hosts when she lit the lamp off the setup from Sydney Jordan.

Tess Adams added a shorthanded goal to open the third period and Gillies posted her second goal of the night as Alex Bloom recorded her first collegiate point setting up Gillies' second tally.

Brooke Susac was outstanding in goal stopping 26 of the 27 shots she faced, while Isabelle Woodward made 32 stops including 16 in the first period for Salem State.
