Pele Scores as Women’s Hockey Falls 2-1 at Cortland

Cortland, NY – Jessica Pele scored her third goal of the season but host SUNY Cortland earned a 2-1 win v. the SUNY Canton women's hockey team in non-conference action on Thursday evening.
 
The Red Dragons (5-7-2) took a 1-0 lead at 5:37 of the first period on Emily King's sixth goal of the season. Pele knotted the score at one apiece 10 minutes later on Ashley Gillies seventh assist of the season.
 
Samantha Pippin netted the eventual game-winner on the power play at 5:25 of the second period.
 
The Roos (6-6-1) committed eight penalties in the contest killing off seven of them, while Canton was unable to score on six power play opportunities.
 
Brooke Susac made 22 saves for the Roos, while Rachael Farmer turned aside 20 shots in her fifth win of the season.
