Woodrow’s Second Goal Leads Women’s Soccer Past Medaille, 1-0

Canton, NY – Junior Brooke Woodrow scored her second goal in as many games and that proved to be the difference as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win against Medaille College on Sunday afternoon.

The Roos (1-1) opened the scoring at the 14:45 mark on Woodrow's second goal of the season. Ryan Schubert played a nice ball in from the right side to Kristina DiNardo at the left post. She one-touched the ball forward as the Medaille keeper came out and Woodrow finished the ball into the open net.

DiNardo had two other great chances in the opening half one midway through when she ripped a shot but Medaille keeper Deejah Burgess made a great diving save to her left. Seven minutes later DiNardo went 1-on-1 with the keeper but her shot went right at Burgess.

SUNY Canton held a 10-2 shots and 6-1 shots on goal advantage taking a 1-0 lead into intermission.

The Roos continued to dominate from a statistical perspective after halftime as they finished the contest with advantages in shots (17-3), shots on goal (11-2) and corner kicks (7-1).

Burgess kept the Mavericks (0-1) in the game throughout posting 10 saves on 11 shots, while Allison Wakefield made two stops recording a clean sheet.
