Morrisville, NY – Katie Lamica gave the Roos an early lead and
Kristina DiNardo tallied a pair of second half goals as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team earned a 3-0 shutout against host Morrisville State on Wednesday evening.
The Roos (2-1) got on the board first in the eighth minute when Lamica slotted her first goal of the season off a direct kick. Morrisville (0-2) held a slim 6-5 shots on goal advantage but
Allison Wakefield stopped all six shots she faced to keep SUNY Canton ahead 1-0 at intermission.
Canton seized the momentum less than three minutes out of halftime as
Jaedyn Ossont chipped the ball forward off a turnover as DiNardo one touched the ball past Mustang keeper Brianna Sorriento.
DiNardo doubled her scoring total in the 63rd minute as she used her speed taking the ball down the center of the field on a breakaway to put the game away.
Wakefield made seven saves for the Roos in her second consecutive clean sheet, while Sorriento turned aside seven shots for Morrisville.
