Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – Hector Martinez scored his first collegiate goal but the SUNY Canton men's soccer team could not overcome a pair of goals from Nick Shenberger in a 3-1 road loss at Bard College on Sunday.

Shenberger netted a pair of goals 15 minutes apart in the first half off a pair of Roos defensive miscues to take a 2-0 lead into intermission.

Martinez got SUNY Canton within one early in the 59th minute when he buried the team's first goal of the season after the Raptors were whistled for a foul in the box off a corner kick.

Lucas Bourgine added an insurance goal four minutes later for Bard. The Raptors held a 13-8 edge in shots on goal well the Roos controlled corner kicks, 12-3. Maurizio Paniconi paced Canton with three shots on goal.

Mouhammed Thiam made nine saves for the Roos, while Taylor Bond turned aside seven shots for Bard.

The men's soccer team hosts SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The event will be a Green Dot game as well as a FYEP event. The first 200 fans at Tuesday's game will receive free RooVuzelas.
