Bennington, VT – Southern Vermont College saw five different players score goals as they jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead en route to a 5-0 win v. the SUNY Canton women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.
Rileigh Griffiths opened the scoring in the fifth minute beating Roo goalkeeper
Allison Wakefield to the left side off a pass from Juliena D'Alessio on her right. Taylor Mallett doubled the lead for the Mountaineers in the 15
th minute on her second goal of the season as the hosts led 2-0 at intermission.
Ally McNamee added a third score in the 55th minute and Molly Madore and Jayne Wierzbicki tallied goals in the 87th and 90th minutes for the 5-0 final.
Bailey Grace,
Soren Shirley and
Abbey D'Agostino registered the lone Canton shots on goal.
Allison Wakefield made two saves for the Roos (4-3), while Melissa Mascari turned aside three shots in the shutout for Southern Vermont (3-4).
