Wakefield Stops Season-High Nine Shots at Clarkson

Potsdam, NY – Allison Wakefield had a strong outing in goal making nine saves but the SUNY Canton women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at host Clarkson University on Tuesday evening.

Ally Flaherty opened the scoring for Clarkson (6-2-3) in the 21st minute to give the Knights a 1-0 lead at intermission. Wakefield made four first half saves to keep the Roos (4-4-0) within striking distance. Canton generated a pair of scoring chances on goal in the opening half off the feet of Morgan Rodriguez and Victoria Bean.

Wakefield made a pair of saves early in the second half and Madison Rowe had a shot attempt that was turned aside by Clarkson keeper Elyse Green 13 minutes into the second half. Clarkson held the Roos without a shot on goal attempt the remainder of the way as Summer Gillespie added an insurance goal off a pass from Rachel Strijek in the 76th minute.

Wakefield made nine saves for the Roos, while Green turned aside three shots for Clarkson.
