Malinoski and Ramirez Score as Roos Post 2-0 Shutout at SUNY Poly

Thiam Post Second Clean Sheet of the Season

Marcy, NY – Edward Malinoski, Jr. and Marc Ramirez scored one goal each on either side of halftime to lead the SUNY Canton men's soccer team to a 2-0 road win at SUNY Poly on Wednesday evening.

The Roos (2-3-1) held a 4-3 shots on goal advantage in the opening half and that paid off in the 43rd minute when Omar Qadiri played a through ball up the middle to Malinoski who slotted his first goal of the year to give Canton a 1-0 lead at intermission.

Ramirez took advantage of a miscue on a dropped ball by the Wildcat keeper in the 53rd minute to add a key insurance marker. SUNY Poly finished with a 3-2 shots on goal advantage in the second half, while the Roos held the upper hand in corner kicks in the contest, 7-5.

Mouhammed Thiam stopped all four shots he faced for his second clean sheet and first victory of the season, while Alexander Gigliotti made six saves for the Wildcats (0-4-0).
