Smith Scores as Men’s Soccer Falls in LINAO Mountaineer Invitational Championship

Lebron, Kepler & Smith Named to All-Tournament Team

Bennington, VT – Kyle Smith scored his second goal of the season but the SUNY Canton men's soccer team was unable to overcome a four-goal halftime deficit falling 7-1 to Oswego State in the championship game of the LINAO Mountaineer Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

The Lakers (4-0-1) held a 6-0 shots on goal advantage in the opening half as Jason Siracuse scored a pair of goals with Oswego State holding a 4-0 advantage at intermission.

Smith got the Roos on the board beating the opposing keeper for the second time in as many days in the 49th minute as he took the defense on with a nice individual effort up the right side.

Oswego State responded with another goal just 22 seconds later as Connor Lunduski scored twice in a span of 2:48 as the Lakers cruised to the 7-1 win.

Austin Lamay made three saves over the first 69 minutes of action, while Connor Campbell did not face a shot on goal over the final 21 minutes. Brian Terra made three saves in the win for Oswego, while Thomas Pupatelli finished the final 11:56 without facing a shot.
