Woodrow Scores in First Collegiate Game at Wells

Aurora, NY – Brooke Woodrow scored her first collegiate goal in her first game but the SUNY Canton women's soccer team fell 2-1 on the road at Wells College in the season-opener for both teams.

The Express opened the scoring in the 24th minute off the foot of Mackenzie Maloney but the Roos responded less than five minutes before halftime as Jaedy Ossont found Woodrow in the middle of the box who buried her first collegiate goal.

Wells would find what proved to be the eventual game-winner 4:10 out of intermission as Yanna Ososkalo placed a through ball to Madison Beriman who found the back of the net.

Quinn Doubet made 10 saves in net for the Express, while Allison Wakefield turned aside two shots for the Roos. Canton held an 11-4 shots on goal advantage.

The women's soccer team hosts Medaille College in its home opener on Sunday at 1 p.m. Stay up to date with the latest news directly from the SUNY Canton Athletics department by "liking" us on Facebook and "following" our Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
