Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton softball team, winners of nine of their last 11 contests, earned a doubleheader sweep of visiting SUNY Delhi with 13-5 and 9-0 victories on Sunday.
The Roos improve to 19-11 on the season, while the Broncos drop to 2-17.
Game 1 – Box Score
The Roos scored five runs each in the first two innings and added three runs over the final two frames to earn a 13-5 run-rule win in six innings in the opener.
Stefanie Miller got the scoring started plating
Valerie Clark on an RBI single to right center.
Desiree Pryce followed with a 2 RBI double in the gap in left center to plate
Courtney Hyland and Miller.
Rachel Thornhill concluded the first inning scoring with a 2 RBI single through the left side.
The Canton bats continued to stay hot in the second as Miller cleared the bases with a 3 RBI triple off the center field wall.
Lizzie Bimonte followed with a two-run shot to center field as the Roos held a 10-4 lead after two.
The hosts added three runs in the final two innings as Clark reached on an error scoring
Rhea Coad, Hyland doubled home Clark and
Cassidy Yetter plated Pryce on the game-winning run on an RBI groundout.
Jordan Podkladek earned the win on the mound giving up three earned runs over six innings with a strike out.
Game 2 – Box Score
SUNY Canton picked up right where it left off with six runs in the first inning on its way to a second run-rule win. Miller plated Clark and Coad on a 2 RBI base hit up the middle. Thornhill and Yetter followed with back-to-back RBI singles and
Brittany Staltare upped the lead to six with a 2 RBI double.
The hosts added two runs in the second and one in the third for their fourth win in two days. Podkladek earned the complete game shutout win tossing a four-hitter and earning her fourth win in two days to improve to 12-4 on the season.
