Miller Belts Two Homers as Softball Splits v. Wells

Canton, NY – Stefanie Miller hit a pair of three-run homers as the SUNY Canton softball bats exploded for 15 runs in five innings to secure a split v. Wells College on Wednesday.

The Roos (15-10) earned a 15-5 victory in the nightcap after the Express (7-19) took the opener 10-0.

Game 1 – Box Score
Naomi Kubo tossed a five-hitter for the Express in the opener walking six batters and striking out eight in the complete game win. Baylee Pearce led Wells with 4 RBI, while Sydney Cullen also drove in three runs on two hits. Kubo helped her own cause going 3-for-4 with a walk and scoring four times.

Miller paced the Roos with two hits in three at-bats, while Valerie Clark, Courtney Hyland and Rachel Thornhill registered the other Canton hits. Rhea Coad also reached base twice drawing a pair of walks.

Jordan Podkladek took the loss falling to 8-4 on the season surrendering five earned runs over seven innings.

Game 2 – Box Score
The Roo bats exploded for nine runs in the first two innings of the nightcap as Stefanie Miller led the offense with a pair of three run homers in the first two frames. Miller, Coad, Hyland and Clark all produced multi-hits as Canton cruised to victory as the bats came alive.

Kelsey White was impressive on the mound giving up just two earned runs over five innings as the teams agreed pre-game to a five-inning contest to beat darkness. The freshman improved to 4-3 on the season with her third win in her last four outings.
