Softball Scores 10 Runs in Final At-Bats to Sweep Wells

Aurora, NY – The SUNY Canton softball team exploded for 10 runs in the seventh inning to secure a sweep against host Wells College on Monday by scores of 6-2 and 12-8. The Roos improve to 10-7, while the Express drop to 5-15.

Game 1 – Box Score
Stefanie Miller finished with three hits as the Roos scored three runs in the fifth inning along with one each in the first, fourth and sixth frames to earn a 6-2 victory in the opener. Kaleigh Foran, Courtney Hyland, Alicia Evans, Brittany Staltare and Miller all drove in runs for Canton. Valerie Clark and Foran both recorded multi-hit outings in addition to Miller.

Jordan Podkladek improved to 6-3 on the season tossing a complete game giving up one earned run on nine hits with five strikeouts. Jessica Conover took the loss for Wells giving up five earned runs on 10 hits.

Game 2 – Box Score
SUNY Canton overcame a 6-2 deficit recording double digit runs in their final at-bats as six different players registered hits and 11 times the Roos had a player reach base in the frame. Miller, Hyland, Clark and Desiree Pryce all finished with multi-hit outings in the nightcap as Jaedyn Ossont led the team driving in three runs on a bases-clearing double in the final frame.

Kelsey White earned her second win of the season giving up one earned run on three hits over the final two innings in relief, while Annie Sharlow earned the no-decision. Conover took her second loss in as many games giving up five earned runs in less than an inning of work.
