Evans, Miner & Bimonte Lead Roos in Doubleheader at Potsdam

Potsdam, NY – The SUNY Canton softball team dropped a doubleheader at host SUNY Potsdam by scored of 10-2 and 10-7 on Thursday. The Bears improve to 5-18, while the Roos drop to 10-9.

Game 1 – Box Score
The Roos gave up six unearned runs in the third inning as they dropped the opener. Canton got out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning as Alicia Evans doubled to right center scoring Desiree Pryce and Lizzie Bimonte, who both reached earlier in the inning on walks.

The Bears added one run in the fourth and three in the fifth to earn the run-rule victory, 10-2.

Annie Sharlow took the loss on the mound giving up 10 runs only three of which were earned. Megan Fish earned the win on a two-hitter yielding two earned runs on four walks and three strike outs.

Game 2 – Box Score
The Bears jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after two innings in the nightcap as they scored three runs in the first on three RBI singles and Jordan Ott hit a two-run homer in the second.

The Roos got three back in the fourth on a 3 RBI triple from Brittany Miner scoring Pryce, Stefanie Miller and Bimonte. The Bears responded with three runs in the fifth on a pair of RBI triples and an RBI double.

Canton added four runs in the seventh on an RBI singles from Kaleigh Foran and Jordan Podkladek, while Courtney Hyland scored a pair on a 2 RBI base hit up the middle.

Kelsey White took the loss in the nightcap giving up nine earned runs over six innings with four strikeouts. Meghan Dougherty earned the win allowing seven earned runs in six innings.
