Yule Records Second Hat Trick as Roos Rally for 11-8 Win v. Benedictine

Canton, NY – Trenton Yule recorded his second hat trick of the season as the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team scored six of the final eight goals on its way to an 11-8 victory v. Benedictine University on Thursday.

The Roos (1-4) held a 3-2 lead after the opening quarter behind two goals from Yule and a goal and assist from Kyle Smith. The teams played to an even 2-2 score in the second quarter as the Roos took a 5-4 lead into intermission in a low scoring first half.

Benedictine (2-6) scored the first two goals out of halftime to open a 6-5 lead but the Roos responded with three straight scores off the sticks of Yule, Cam Carter and Jack Elberty to take an 8-6 advantage. After Kyle Wagner got the Eagles within one, Elberty scored his second goal in a four-minute span to give Canton the 9-7 lead. Josh Yelvington and Smith added goals over the final 90 seconds to secure the 11-8 victory.

Yule led the Roos with three goals, while Smith and Yelvington added two goals and two assists each. Elberty chipped in with a pair of goals while Jake Sutton added a goal and two assists.

Yelvington led the Roos with six ground balls, while Sutton, Brandon Rodee and Kyle Green added four ground balls apiece. Rodee and Kyle Kocsis forced two turnovers each, while Kocsis made 13 saves. Sammie Sanko turned aside 11 shots in the loss for the Eagles.

Randy Patrick led the Eagles with four goals, while Trevor Manzke added two goals and an assist.
