Chestnut Hill, MA – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team will head to Chestnut Hill, MA to take part in the inaugural American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Playoffs this weekend.
The Roos have earned the two seed in the three-team tournament, which will be hosted by the one seed Pine Manor College. Canton will square off with Alfred State College at 5 p.m. on Saturday with the winner advancing to take on Pine Manor on Sunday at 2 p.m.
SUNY Canton and Alfred State have already met twice this season with the Roos securing a pair of thrilling three point victories. On January 28th in a 79-76 home win
Adrian Williams hit a three-pointer with half a second left on the clock, while
Romario Fletcher and
Sam Annorh combined for 44 points in a 66-63 road win.
The Roos enter the tournament 17-8 overall, while the Pioneers are 9-16 overall and the Gators sit at 16-8.
SUNY Canton averaged 78 points per game while giving up 72 per outing. The Roos feature four players who average nine or more points per outing in
Sam Annorh (21.7),
Romario Fletcher (19.8),
Adrian Williams (12.4) and
Rashad Richardson (9.2). Fletcher averages a double-double with 11.2 rebounds per game.
Alfred State averages nearly 75 points per game, while surrendering just more than 73 per outing. Five players averaged nine or more points in Marquis Edwards (11.7), Sayquan Chambers (10.1), Justin Wallace (10.0), Tyrone Davis (9.9) and Marcus Rhett (9.0).
Pine Manor averages just over 90 points per game, while giving up just under 82 per contest. Just like the Roos and Pioneers the Gators feature balanced scoring in Taverick Roberson (19.9), Rasheed Bell (13.4), Curtis Hyman (10.3), Ellis Reid (9.6) and Erick Rosario (9.3).
