Buffalo, NY – Bri Gawronski stopped all 32 shots she faced leading host Buffalo State to a 3-0 win v. the SUNY Canton women's hockey team in nonconference action on Saturday afternoon.
The Roos (4-4) were whistled for a tripping penalty 4:28 into the opening period and the Bengals made them pay with 33 seconds left on the power play as Emily DeCock lit the lamp off passes from Rachel Lenard and Madeline Kromer. Buffalo State held a slim, 11-10 shots advantage and took a 1-0 lead into first intermission.
Buffalo State doubled its lead at 18:30 of the middle period when Emma Ruggiero tallied her second goal of the season off the setup from Erin Gehen and Kromer. Canton held a 14-7 shots advantage in the second 20 minutes but was unable to solve Bengal goaltender Bri Gawronski.
Ruggiero added her second of the game with 1:20 remaining for the 3-0 final.
Brooke Susac made 25 saves for the Roos, while Gawronski turned aside 32 shots in the shutout.
