Canton, NY – Sam Annorh recorded a game-high 30 points and 11 different players scored as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team earned an 89-46 victory against Vermont Technical College on Saturday.
Annorh finished with 30 points, five steals and three assists shooting 10-for-15 from the field, while
Romario Fletcher recorded 19 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists hitting seven of his 12 field goal attempts.
Rashad Richardson,
Walt Jeter and
Taylor Ashby all scored six or more points to lead a balanced attack for the Roos (7-7).
Leading 16-11 8:54 into the contest the Roos closed the half on a 24-10 spurt to open up a 19 point lead at intermission. Annorh scored 16 of his points in the opening half, while Fletcher added eight. Lewis Holey paced the Knights (6-9) with 12 first half points.
The Knights did not get closer than 19 points in the second half as the Roo reserves came on and showed strong performances outscoring the Vermont Tech bench, 26-8. The Roos also held a big advantage in fast break points (18-2) and turned 29 Knight turnovers into 39 points.
"What an incredible team performance by our guys today," Head Coach
Ben Thompson said. "They showed great togetherness and played a full 40 minutes. There are things that we can improve on, but today was a push forward."
Lewis Holey led the Knights with 24 points as the only player in double figures.
The 43-point win is the largest point differential since the Roos defeated SUNY ESF, 76-31, on January 14, 2012.
