Men’s Basketball Wins Fifth Straight Defeating Morrisville, 72-55

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team opened a double-digit halftime lead on its way to its fifth consecutive victory defeating visiting Morrisville State 72-55 on Saturday in the Roos House.

Rashad Richardson posted his third double-double of the season with 17 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, while Sam Annorh led all players with 25 points. Romario Fletcher recorded his 10th double-double of the season on 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Walt Jeter hauled down 10 rebounds.

The Roos (10-7) jumped out to an early 22-10 lead nine minutes in after an Annorh layup. The Mustangs (7-4) responded with a 6-0 run to get within six but Canton closed the final four minutes of the half on a 10-0 run to take a commanding 40-20 lead into intermission.

The hosts lead ballooned to its largest of the game at 22 1 minute, 30 seconds into the second half. The Mustangs trimmed the deficit to as little as nine at 56-47 with 7:03 remaining after a Kevin Dennis layup, but Annorh responded with five straight points including knocking down a three to extend the lead to 14 as the Roos earned the 17-point victory.

"Our guys put forth an incredible effort today," Head Coach Ben Thompson said. "It was encouraging to see our effort and energy sustained for 40 minutes. I could not be more proud of how hard we played."

Trent Ward and Dennis led the Mustangs with 17 points apiece, while Dennis added 12 rebounds. Hoose finished with nine points and five assists.
