Adams Scores 10th Goal in 4-1 Setback Against Herons

CHS BOX SCORE

Canton, NY – Tess Adams scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season but William and Smith College scored twice in the first and third periods on its way to a 4-1 win on Wednesday in the Roos House.

The Herons (4-7-2) got on the board at 1:05 of the first when Gina Scibetta touched the puck to Taylor Morash who scored on a scrum out in front. The Roos (6-8-0) answered back four minutes later when Margret Troiano picked off a pass in the neutral zone and fired a shot on net that was saved by Devon Strachan. The rebound went right to Tess Adams at the near post who buried her team-leading 10th goal of the season.

The Herons regained the lead at 18:17 when Krista Federow gathered the puck behind the net and scored on a wrap-around tally. William Smith held a 10-6 shots advantage after one.

Neither team found the back of the net in the second period as the Herons held a slim 6-5 shots advantage.

William and Smith added an insurance goal at 7:19 of the third. Maura Mulligan's initial shot was saved by Brooke Susac but Kate Klimaszewski picked the puck up at the near post and hit Stephanie Hampton in the slot who beat Susac five-hole. The Herons added another score two minutes later when Lindsay Brown picked the puck up at the near half boards as her shot deflected off Susac and a defender and into the net.

Susac made 23 saves for the Roos, while Devon Strachan turned aside 20 shots for the Herons. Both teams killed off four penalties apiece.
